El Norte, 2003, installation at Galería Metropolitana, Santiago.
Different works all linked by the idea of describing a place. Large plastic
sheet lowering the ceiling to 6 feet and changing the light of the room to a
blue hue. Newspaper from a city in the north of Chile, that has on the front
page a picture of dogs and the headline: ”Alarm at the beach due to pack
of dogs” and on the last page an article about how Santa made an appearance
at the stadium. The adjacent TV has a split screen video showing Santa in the
stadium and the dogs bothering people at the beach, both stories taped the day
before the paper came out. The other TV is showing a night scene of a sleeping
horse, with a high aperture, the audio is a woman screaming from a nearby house:
” you are not a man!, you are worthless!” taped in a small town
in an oasis in the desert. Lastly a table/shelf with a graph-grid made with
chalk and series of wires, apparently displaying some kind of information.
